Beginners Throwing Classes
Join us for a 2.5 hour throwing class suitable for complete beginners or those who want a refresher of throwing at the wheel. Each class will start with a throwing demonstration from a professional potter followed by about 2 hours on the wheel then time at the end to clean up and choose a glaze for your favourite piece! Your finished pot will be ready for collection in 5-6 weeks. For more details click here.

Beginners Slab-Building (Handbuilding) Classes
Join us for a 3 hour slab-building class suitable for complete beginners. Over the duration of the class you will make your own slab mug using slabs of clay, templates and formers. You will be under the guidance of a professional potter for each step of the process and will have time to decorate your piece with cutters, stamps and underglaze colours. Your finished mug will be ready for collection after firing in 5-6 weeks. For more details click here.

Pottery Courses
6-Week Hand-Building Beginners Course
Designed for complete Beginners, this course covers the foundational Hand-Building Pottery skills necessary to create a range of projects including creating with coils, slabs and moulds as well as learning decorative techniques including using coloured slips, underglaze, stoneware glazes, paper resist, sgraffito and more! By the end of the course you will have a foundational knowledge that you can go onwards to use as an Independent Potter in the studio if you so wish. The course price includes the tuition of 6 sessions, independent studio time as well as the bisque and glaze firing of 4 projects. This course runs in January, April and September. The January 2025 course will be released for booking on Nov 1st at 12:00 (midday).
6-Week Beginners Throwing Course
Suitable for complete beginners, this course offers in-depth tutoring of all of the foundational skills of throwing pottery on the wheel. Over 6 sessions you will guided by a professional potter through the processes of wedging, centering, coning, pulling and turning clay. In your fourth session you will choose four of your favourite pieces to be bisque fired and then in your final session you will learn to glaze your pieces which will then be fired and kept forever!
£295 per person.
Including the bisque and glaze firing of four pieces.

The next 6-Week Beginners Throwing Course will run in May 2025, every Wednesday evening (18:00 – 20:30) from May 7th until June 11th.

2-Day Beginners Throwing Course (Weekend Intensive)
Suitable for Beginners, this course covers all of the foundational skills of throwing pottery on the wheel. Over 4 sessions (two full days) you will guided by a professional potter through the processes of wedging, centering, coning, pulling and turning clay – focusing primarily on the cylinder form. The aim of this course is not to create the ‘perfect’ piece but instead to ‘throw and throw away’ – for this reason no work will be fired but instead you will have access to unlimited clay to throw as much as you can for excellent practice.
£200 per person.

The next Beginners Throwing Course Intensive Weekend will run on May 3rd & 4th (Saturday and Sunday, 10am – 4pm). The course will open for booking on Friday Jan 3rd at 12:00 (midday)!
Intermediate Throwing Course (4-Week or 2-Day Weekend Intensive Course)
Suitable as a follow-on from the Beginners Throwing classes, courses or if you would like to develop your existing throwing skills. Over 4 sessions you will be guided through improving your foundational throwing skills through cylinder practice before moving onto more complex forms including convex and concave. In your final session you will have some freedom to decide what you would like to practice which may include further throwing, turning or creating handles. Like our Beginners course, this course is ‘throw and throw away’ with access to unlimited clay for practice.
£200 per person.
