Why are your classes so affordable?

Our goal as a CIC/Not-for-Profit Pottery studio is to remain as affordable and accessible as possible to our local community and beyond – giving everyone a chance be able to try pottery! What this means is that we price our classes and sessions to cover our costs (electricity, materials, studio costs and our lovely teachers) but we don’t take a profit – all the money we make goes back into the studio and allows us to continue to exist!

How can I book a class?

You can book all pottery classes on our booking page.

What are your opening times?

Tuesday (2pm – 9pm), Wednesday (10am – 5pm), Thursday (2pm – 9pm) and Friday (10am – 5pm). For our independent potters we offer a choice of either a morning session (10am – 1pm), an afternoon session (2pm – 5pm) or an evening session (6pm – 9pm). We are occasionally open on Saturday/Sunday/Monday for party bookings of 5+ upon request.

Where is the Potthouse?

Please see our location page.

I’ve done a class, when will my work be ready to collect?

Please see our collecting your work page.

Can people with disabilities attend classes?

We welcome any and all to The Potthouse Collective. If you or a loved one have special needs and require an aid to help you in a class or session they are naturally welcome (and not required to join in or pay for a class). As with all our customers, we ask that those who visit us at The Potthouse Collective are kind and considerate to others! We have a zero tolerance policy against any and all discrimination and rudeness to fellow potters or staff.

Wheelchair Access: Since moving to our new studio we are now unfortunately no longer wheelchair accessible (the studio is at the top of a ramp that is too steep for regulation and W/C facilities are up a step). We are seeking to undergo the process that would allow us to change this but we aren’t having much luck in the grant application process – we are always open to suggestions of groups or charities we could apply to!

Can my child come for a pottery class?

For our hand-building classes we have a minimum age of 5, for throwing classes our minimum age is 10. All children under 16 must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. Please ensure that your child can use the space responsibly and can be respectful to other customers and the delicate pottery onsite.

Can I bring my pet dog to the studio?

Due to the comfort/unknown allergies of other customers and the limited space we unfortunately cannot currently allow dogs.

Can I book a class for 10+ people?

For all details about booking for parties and larger groups please see our Adult’s & Children’s Parties page.

I would like to buy a class for my friend, what is the best way to do this?

We sell gift cards that can be used to purchase any of our available classes.

I emailed with a question, why haven’t I had a reply yet?

Our replies sometimes end up in junk/spam folders! Please check there for our emails. Sometimes there may be a longer wait for an email reply than expected – unfortunately the running of a not-for-profit studio keeps all our team quite busy but we try our best to reply as quickly as possible! Please note, however, that we aim to only reply to emails during business hours.
