Pinch-Pot Pumpkin Workshop

Come and celebrate the spooky season by hand sculpting your own ceramic Jack-o-lantern! One of our most popular classes from last year – in this class you will learn the historic technique of pinch-pot and ‘pull’ your own stem! Your pumpkin will then be glazed (after it’s bisque firing) with two glazes of your choice!

‘Seasonal’ Make-a-Mug Workshop

Our classic Beginners Hand-Building Class but with a seasonal twist! (Though, of course, creating a ‘normal’ mug is also encouraged!) Over this 3-hour class you will learn to make a mug using soft slabs of clay, 3-D shapes and underglaze paints!

Christmas Decoration Workshop

Winter Tealight Workshop

Our ‘Classic’ Pottery Classes

Beginners Throwing Classes

Join us for a 2.5 hour throwing class suitable for complete beginners or those who want a refresher of throwing at the wheel. Each class will start with a throwing demonstration from a professional potter followed by about 2 hours on the wheel then time at the end to clean up and choose a glaze for your favourite piece! Your finished pot will be ready for collection in 5-6 weeks. For more details click here.

Beginners Slab-Building (Handbuilding) Classes

Join us for a 3 hour slab-building class suitable for complete beginners. Over the duration of the class you will make your own slab mug using slabs of clay, templates and formers. You will be under the guidance of a professional potter for each step of the process and will have time to decorate your piece with cutters, stamps and underglaze colours. Your finished mug will be ready for collection after firing in 5-6 weeks. For more details click here.

Pottery Courses

6-Week Hand-Building Beginners Course

Designed for complete Beginners, this course covers the foundational Hand-Building Pottery skills necessary to create a range of projects including creating with coils, slabs and moulds as well as learning decorative techniques including using coloured slips, underglaze, stoneware glazes, paper resist, sgraffito and more! By the end of the course you will have a foundational knowledge that you can go onwards to use as an Independent Potter in the studio if you so wish. The course price includes the tuition of 6 sessions, independent studio time as well as the bisque and glaze firing of 4 projects. This course runs in January, April and September. The January 2025 course will be released for booking on Nov 1st at 12:00 (midday).

Beginners Throwing Course (4-Week or 2-Day Weekend Intensive Course)

Suitable for Beginners, this course covers all of the foundational skills of throwing pottery on the wheel. Over 4 sessions you will guided by a professional potter through the processes of wedging, centering, coning, pulling and turning clay – focusing primarily on the cylinder form. The aim of this course is not to create the ‘perfect’ piece but instead to ‘throw and throw away’ – for this reason no work will be fired but instead you will have access to unlimited clay to throw as much as you can for excellent practice.

Weekend Intensive: 10am – 4pm, Saturday & Sunday
(x4 2.5 Hour Sessions over one weekend)
4-Week Course: x4 2.5 Hours Sessions held over 4 weeks

£200 per person.

The next Beginners Throwing Course Intensive Weekend will run on November 16th/17th 2024 and December 7th/8th.
The next Beginners Throwing 4-Week Course will run on Wednesday evenings in January 2025 – the course will open for bookings on Nov 1st 12:00 (midday).

Intermediate Throwing Course (4-Week or 2-Day Weekend Intensive Course)

Suitable as a follow-on from the Beginners Throwing classes, courses or if you would like to develop your existing throwing skills. Over 4 sessions you will be guided through improving your foundational throwing skills through cylinder practice before moving onto more complex forms including convex and concave. In your final session you will have some freedom to decide what you would like to practice which may include further throwing, turning or creating handles. Like our Beginners course, this course is ‘throw and throw away’ with access to unlimited clay for practice.

£200 per person.
